Genre's Of Films
Action and Adventure; these films include alot of action scenes and often display and explore an exotic setting.
Animation; A motion picture or film consisting of a series of drawings, objects and computer graphics that simulate motion by recording continuous changes in the images, frame by frame.
Bollywood;Bollywood is the name given to the Mumbai-based Hindi-language film industry in
India. When combined with other Indian film industries (Tamil, Telugu, Bengali,
Malayalam, Kannada), its been said that it has the most films produced in the world.
Comedy; Comedy film is a genre of film in
which the main aspect is to entertain the audience through amusement, and often
work by exaggerating characteristics of real life for a humor effect.
Crime; Crime films are films which focus on the lives of criminals. The
stylistic approach to a crime film varies from realistic portrayals of real-life
criminal figures, to the far-fetched evil doings of imaginary arch-villains.
Drama; Drama film is a genre that relies on the emotional and relational effects of
realistic characters. While Drama film relies heavily on this kind of
development, dramatic themes play a large role in the plot as well.
Family; Family film is a genre that is contains appropriate content for younger viewers.
Family film aims to appeal not only to children, but to a wide range of ages.
While the storyline may appeal to a younger audience, there are parts of
the film that are more towards adults.
Horror; Horror film is a genre that aims to create a sense of fear and panic for the audience. These films are often tense and rely on scaring the
audience through a portrayal of their worst fears and nightmares. Horror films
usually center on the arrival of an evil force, person, or event.
Musical; A musical involves vocal and dance performances into a narrative of a film. these films are done on a grand scale and include spectacular costumes and props.
Romance; this genre is also pretty self explanatory, it includes two people that fall in love. there are different themes in the romance genre, these can be either love at first sight, forbidden love or sacrificial love. the ending can either be happy or sad, these can vary. romance films aim to bring out strong emotions in the audience.
Science fiction and fantasy; This genre tends to focus on science related events. these usually involve either alien events or time travel. often with futuristic elements such as robots, spacecraft or space travel.
Thriller;a thriller genre focus's on putting the audience through suspense. the aim for thrillers is to keep the audience on edge and alert. the protagonist in these films is set upon a an escape, a mission or a mystery. the tension with the main problem is built throughout the film and ends with a climax.
war; War genre's are usually based on the past. this allows the audience to understand what it was really like for the characters in the film and sometimes relate to their agony and pain. War Films can also be known as documentaries, based on actual historical war.
western; Western films are usually based on the late 19th Century. They are usually set between the American civil war and the 1900's. common themes include a conquest of the wild west, a culteral seperation, treasure hunting and a fude between cowboys and indians.
